Stephen Bunting vs Nitin Kumar prediction
Stephen Bunting averaged 96.39 and hit a whopping nine 180s in the first round, but was still forced to get the job done in a fifth and final set against Sebastian Bialecki. Bunting’s heavy scoring should stand him in good stead moving forward despite dropping two sets. On another day, Bunting could easily have won 3-0 and based on what we saw, the Bullet looks a real candidate for a deep run this year.
Nitin Kumar has already made personal history this year at Ally Pally, having secured the biggest win of his career so far. For the first time in five attempts, the Indian was a first-round winner, beating Richard Veenstra 3-2 to thrill the crowd, who had taken to Kumar early on following his lively walk on.
The IDC Indian Qualifier has nothing to lose at this stage and that lack of pressure should see him play with freedom. But Bunting’s ability to pepper the maximum is worth capitalising on and following those nine 180s in round one, back him to accumulate over 4.5 more against Kumar.
