St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Manly Sea Eagles prediction

The St George Illawarra Dragons (13th) endured a nightmare in Round 25, suffering a 40-0 thrashing at the hands of the South Sydney Rabbitohs. The loss was their third in the last five games.

The Manly Sea Eagles (10th) kept their faint finals hopes alive with an attacking masterclass, demolishing the Dolphins 58-30. That victory was a much-needed confidence booster, as it was their only win in their past five matches.

Sea Eagles Captain Daly Cherry-Evans celebrated his 350th NRL game in style last week and continues to be one of the premier game managers in the competition. He ranks fourth in the NRL for both total kicks (299) and total kick metres (8,961). Sea Eagles centre Tolu Koula has scored six tries in his last seven games, including one last week.

Dragon winger Tyrell Sloan has been a consistent try-scorer in a challenging season for the Red V. He currently sits fourth in the NRL with 16 tries. Centre Mat Feagai has joined the party of late, scoring four tries in his last four games.

Historically, the Dragons have had the upper hand in this fixture, winning 24 of the 37 games played since 1998. The teams met earlier this season in Round 7, with the Dragons claiming a tight 20-18 victory. The Sea Eagles have not won at Kogarah since 2014 while the Dragons have won three of their past four games at Jubilee Stadium.

This is a do-or-die clash for the Sea Eagles. They must win to have any chance of playing finals football and will be brimming with confidence after their point-scoring blitz last week. The Dragons were abysmal in their last outing but will be a different proposition with the return of their experienced forwards.

St. George Illawarra Dragons vs Manly Sea Eagles tip: Total match points over 43.5 & Tyrell Sloan to score a try
