Sporting CP vs Benfica prediction

Sporting CP have won three of the last four Portuguese Primeira Liga titles thanks to an era that began under the management of Ruben Amorim. Amorim’s departure mid-way through last season has since triggered a new era for the club, though, with Viktor Gyokeres departing for Arsenal this summer, too.

Benfica missed out on the final day of the season to Sporting before then losing the Taca de Portugal final to the same opposition. Since then they have enjoyed some impressive performances at the FIFA Club World Cup, where they reached the round of 16, and they will believe they can move back to the top of Portuguese football.

These two sides played out some fascinating and entertaining matches last year, and this curtain-raiser could be more of the same for the neutral to keep an eye on.

Sporting CP vs Benfica tip: Both teams to score
