Spain vs Italy prediction
It’s difficult to call what sort of encounter this will be with Spain and Italy both through to the next round. Key for the two head coaches will be ensuring their best players avoid injury and it would be no surprise to see significant rotation on either side. Spain narrowly leads the head-to-head record between the two nations in this tournament, but their attack faces a big challenge to try and overcome the Italian defence who are yet to concede a goal in the group stage.
This is a contest that really could go either way. Alternately it wouldn’t be a shock to see the pair cancel each other out, with a lack of intensity due to the importance of neither team being burnt out or suffering an injury ahead of the knockout stage. When taking this into account, the shrewd move may well be to back a draw.
