South Sydney Rabbitohs team news

A raft of changes for Head Coach Wayne Bennett after last week’s vanishing act in Magic Round. Fullback Latrell Mitchell is back in a boost for the Rabbitohs and he slots straight back into the No.1 jersey, with Jamie Humphreys also coming back in at halfback after recovering from a hamstring injury. Lewis Dodd has been dropped to the reserves. Jye Gray will shift back to the bench with Siliva Havili being named at hooker. Euan Aitken has moved to the back row from the centres, with Fletcher Myers named on the wing. Jai Arrow moves to prop and Tevita Tatola drops out of the side and onto the extended bench. Keaon Koloamatangi has been named in the front row alongside Arrow, which sees Sean Keppie relegated to the bench.

Brisbane Broncos team news

Head Coach Michael Maguire has resisted bringing Ezra Mam straight back in to invigorate the side’s stuttering attack. Mam is eligible for selection after completing his nine-game suspension, but he’ll return via the Queensland Cup to gain match fitness. Maguire has only made the one change, with prop Fletcher Baker coming into the 17 for Jaiyden Hunt.

Squad: 1. Selwyn Cobbo 2. Deine Mariner 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Gehamat Shibasaki 5. Jesse Arthars 6. Ben Hunt 7. Adam Reynolds 8. Patrick Carrigan 9. Billy Walters 10. Payne Haas 11. Xavier Willison 12. South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Brisbane Broncos prediction

Where to next for the South Sydney Rabbitohs who were defeated at the hands of the Newcastle Knights by 30-4 in another disappointing performance both defensively and with ball in hand. They haven’t had the best run with injuries so far and clearly off-season English recruit Lewis Dodd is not in the coach’s plans as his starting reign lasted only a week.

The Brisbane Broncos had high hopes last week heading into their clash against the Penrith Panthers, but they ran into the Panthers of old and succumbed 32-8. The impending return of halfback Ezra Mam will wait another week and then selection headaches will present themselves for Maguire.

The Broncos have split their previous ten meetings with the Rabbitohs including a win each for the home teams in 2024.

While they are yet to have their full-strength team available for a single match this year, South Sydney have shown glimpses of what could be. They currently lie in a perilous 13th position on the ladder and have a host of teams between them and any chance of a finals berth.

We think the Broncos have enough firepower to travel to Sydney and get the job done against the Rabbitohs.
