Slavia Prague vs Anderlecht Prediction

Although they are unbeaten in their 18 domestic games this season (16 wins, 2 draws) and are top of the Czech Liga, Slavia Prague have not managed to translate that form to the European stage and sit outside the play-off places heading into Matchday 6.

Jindrich Trpisovsky’s side did begin the league phase in positive fashion, following a 0-2 win away at Ludogorets with a 1-1 draw at home to Ajax, but three straight defeats to Athletic Bilbao, Eintracht Frankfurt and Fenerbahce have derailed their campaign.

Anderlecht, currently without defeat in nine games in all competitions, are one of a handful of unbeaten teams in the Europa League. The Belgian outfit began the league phase with victories over Ferencvaros, Real Sociedad and Ludogorets and have since shared draws with Riga FS and Porto. With a relatively generous set of fixtures to close out the league phase, few would back against them finishing in the top eight, and a direct route into the quarter-finals as a result.

Despite their lofty position though, Anderlecht have kept just one clean sheet in their five league phase fixtures, and with Slavia Prague having found the net in all 13 home games in all competitions this season, and their last 53 home games dating back to October 2022, expect both teams to score in this one.
