Sheffield Wednesday are the crisis club of the EFL but they are restoring pride on the pitch as they welcome what appears to be a strong Stoke City side to Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Stoke prediction

There is talk of a takeover and the north stand has been reopened, but Sheffield Wednesday remain in disarray off the pitch. On the pitch, the Owls, with a very small squad, took a surprise lead against Leicester City last week before suffering a 2-1 loss, but they then defeated Bolton Wanderers on penalties in the EFL Cup in midweek.

They now face a Stoke City side that began their campaign, their first full season under the management of Mark Robins, with a 3-1 defeat of Derby County in which they were much the better side but had to come from behind and score twice late on in second-half stoppage-time. They then edged past Walsall in the cup on penalties.

Sheffield Wednesday remain in a bit of a mess but the squad is working hard. A lack of pre-season is harming them, though, and Stoke should eventually come out on top.
