Sheffield Wednesday vs Grimsby Town prediction

Sheffield Wednesday have made it to the third round despite fielding a team packed with youth players, winning on penalties against both Bolton and Leeds Utd. The likelihood is that they will do the same again here, which could potentially open the door for Grimsby. Confidence within the League Two club’s squad will be sky high after that memorable Man Utd win following a marathon penalty shootout.

All four League Cup ties involving at least one of these two sides have seen both teams score in 90 minutes with three of them ending in draws. It would be no surprise to see another end-to-end contest with both seeing this game as extremely winnable. Sheffield Wednesday are in the higher division, but Grimsby will play a full-strength XI whilst the hosts are likely to rest key players again. Therefore, back both teams to score once again.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Grimsby Town tip: Both teams to score
