Sevilla preview: Inconsistent Sevilla
After a few seasons of flux in La Liga, and needing late pushes to get away from relegation, Sevilla appointed impressive coach Matias Almeyda and Los Nervionenses had shown signs of major improvement with a recent 4-1 win over Barcelona.
However, since the October international break, Sevilla have suffered three successive defeats in the league. They most recently lost by three goals to nil at the Metropolitano against Atletico Madrid last weekend.
Osasuna preview: Struggling Osasuna
Over the summer, Vicente Moreno departed Osasuna after just a season in charge with Alessio Lisci, who led minnows Mirandes to the playoff final in the second-tier last season, replacing him with his dour and defensive style of football.
That style has seen them score just nine goals in 11 games with only Real Oviedo having scored fewer. The Pamplona-based outfit shared a goalless draw with the aforementioned Oviedo in Asturias last weekend.
Sevilla team news: Isaac Romero out
Key striker Isaac Romero is missing due to a groin injury this weekend. Chile international attacker Alexis Sanchez is also sidelined for the hosts, whilst Joan Jordan is a doubt.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Vlachodimos; Jose Angel Carmona, Cesar Azpilicueta, Marcao, Suazo; Mendy, Sow; Juanlu, Gatito, Vargas; Alfon
Unavailable: Sanchez (Injured), Isaac Romero (Injured)
Questionable: Joan Jordan (Injured)
Osasuna team news: Lucas Torro a doubt
Osasuna midfielder Lucas Torro is a major doubt for this weekend, with defender Valentin Rosier sidelined due to a hamstring injury and Iker Benito dealing with a knee issue.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Sergio Herrera; Jon Moncayola, Boyomo, Alejandro Catena, Abel Bretones; Victor Munoz, Moi Gomez, Iker Munoz, Raul Garcia; Ruben Garcia, Budimir
Unavailable: Rosier (Injured), Iker Benito (Injured)
Questionable: Lucas Torro (Injured)
Sevilla vs Osasuna prediction
The concern and frustration for Sevilla now will be that their hammering of Barcelona before the October international break was more down to the fallibility of the Catalans, rather than their own quality. They face an Osasuna side that don’t show the same defensive concerns and will be difficult to play over and through. As a result, this may be a stubborn test for Sevilla in which finding three points is frustrating.
Sevilla vs Osasuna tip: Double chance – Osasuna to win or draw
