Sevilla preview: Inconsistent Sevilla
Argentine coach Matias Almeyda and his Sevilla side have perhaps underperformed throughout this season, once again, as they sit in the bottom-half of La Liga with just one defeat in their last eight matches across all competitions.
The home team come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Girona at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan last weekend, with Thomas Lemar opening the scoring after just two minutes before Kike Salas snatched an equaliser deep into second-half stoppage-time.
Alaves preview: Struggling Alaves
Deportivo Alaves come into this one on the back of a 2-0 loss at home to Getafe at Mendizorroza in Vitoria in the Basque Country last weekend due to second-half goals scored by Luis Vazquez and Mauro Arambarri.
The pressure is growing on Eduardo Coudet, who only helped Alaves secure mathematical safety from relegation in La Liga on the penultimate day of the 2024/25 campaign.
Sevilla team news: A few issues
Sevilla are dealing with several injury issues for this one as experienced centre-back Marcao remains sidelined alongside versatile Switzerland international attacker Ruben Vargas.
Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Vlachodimos; Cesar Azpilicueta, Gudelj, Kike Salas; Jose Angel Carmona, Agoume, Mendy, Suazo; Gatito; Adams, Maupay
Unavailable: Marcao (Injured), Oso (Injured), Vargas (Injured)
Questionable: Castrin (Injured), Januzaj (Injured)
Alaves team news: Jonny suspended
Former Wolverhampton Wanderers full-back Jonny is unavailable for Alaves this weekend, due to suspension, while Carlos Benavidez remains a doubt, too.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Antonio Sivera; Tenaglia, Garces, Jon Pacheco, Yusi; Calebe, Pablo Ibanez, Antonio Blanco, Carles Alena; Toni Martinez, Lucas Boye
Unavailable: Jonny (Suspended)
Questionable: Carlos Benavidez (Injured)
Sevilla vs Alaves prediction
Home advantage should always give Sevilla the initiative but the hosts have to actually deal with the pressure of what is a demanding set of supporters. Alaves head down to the south of Spain with very limited quality across the park and the expectation is that they will simply try and put ten men behind the ball down in Seville. A low-scoring encounter is to be expected, albeit the hosts have to remain slight favourites.
Sevilla vs Alaves tip: Sevilla to win & under 3.5 goals
