Sassuolo will fancy themselves to take the game to an open and still unconvincing Juventus side in an intriguing contest at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio-Emilia.

Sassuolo preview: Strong Sassuolo

Sassuolo should never have been in Serie B in the first instance and they have been very impressive since their promotion back to the top-flight, with an impressive squad under the management of former Olympique Lyonnais boss Fabio Grosso.

They come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Parma the other day, with Kristian Thorsvedt’s early opener cancelled out by Mateo Pellegrino. They are winless in four matches but remain firmly in the middle-of-the-table in Serie A.

Juventus preview: Frustrated Juve

Luciano Spalletti has improved Juventus since he arrived in the late autumn and the Bianconeri begin the 19th match day of the campaign sitting tucked inside the top-half of the table, despite a poor result against Lecce the other day.

In that clash at the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Lameck Banda gave Lecce the lead in first-half stoppage-time before United States international midfielder Weston McKennie notched an equaliser just after the half-time interval.

Sassuolo team news: No Berardi

Key man and captain Domenico Berardi is unavailable due to a thigh injury, while key right-back Woyo Coulibaly, on loan from Leicester City, is away at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Muric; Walukiewicz, Idzes, Muharemovic, Doig; Thorstvedt, Matic, Lipani; Fadera, Pinamonti, Lauriente

Unavailable: Romagna (Injured), Coulibaly (International duty), Pieragnolo (Injured), Boloca (Injured), Yeferson Paz (Injured), Berardi (Injured)

Questionable:

Juventus team news: Several injuries

Versatile defenders Federico Gatti and Daniele Rugani are confirmed absentees for the visitors, with injury prone Juan Cabal, Francisco Conceicao and Arkadiusz Milik all doubtful.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Di Gregorio; Kalulu, Bremer, Kelly; McKennie, Locatelli, Thuram, Cambiaso; Conceicao, Yildiz; David

Unavailable: Pinsoglio (Injured), Gatti (Injured), Rugani (Injured), Vlahovic (Injured)

Questionable: Juan Cabal (Injured), Conceicao (Injured), Milik (Injured)

Sassuolo vs Juventus prediction

Sassuolo have an abundance of quality in the final third with Armand Lauriente and Andrea Pinamonti, even without the injured Domenico Berardi. The hosts will believe they can test an average Juve defence, still learning how to be truly cohesive. Kenan Yildiz has begun to really come into his own under Spalletti and this should be quite a fun watch for the neutral in which both teams scoring seems a good bet in the north of Italy.

Sassuolo vs Juventus tip: Both teams to score
