Sassuolo preview: Mid-table Sassuolo

Fabio Grosso is in charge of a strong Sassuolo squad that was never really expected to have ever been relegated to the second-tier in the first instance and they now sit firmly ensconced in the middle-of-the-table, well clear of the danger zone.

The home team come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to Napoli in their most recent outing at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last weekend due to a seventh minute strike scored by Stanislav Lobotka.

Cremonese preview: Mid-table Cremonese

Much like Sassuolo, Cremonese have gone about this season in a similar fashion, building up a gap between themselves and the relegation zone, albeit with Davide Nicola at the helm, having been appointed in the summer.

The Lombardy-based outfit most recently shared a goalless draw with Hellas Verona in their most recent outing at Stadio Giovanni Zini with the visitors trying to sit back and play Jamie Vardy in behind a similarly deep Verona defence.

Sassuolo team news: Several doubts

Sassuolo have been dealing with several injury doubts throughout this season but the visitors may be able to welcome club captain and key man Domenico Berardi back into the setup.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Muric; Walukiewicz, Idzes, Muharemovic, Doig; Lipani, Matic, Vranckx; Fadera, Pinamonti, Lauriente

Unavailable: Cande (Injured), Pieragnolo (Injured)

Questionable: Boloca (Injured), Volpato (Injured), Thorstvedt (Injured), Kone (Injured), Berardi (Injured)

Cremonese team news: Jeremy Sarmiento leaving

At the time of writing, Jeremy Sarmiento is set to sign for Birmingham City and so is leaving Cremonese. Giuseppe Pezzella is missing through suspension, while Martin Payero is a doubt due to illness.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Audero; Ceccherini, Baschirotto, Bianchetti; Barbieri, Grassi, Bondo, Vandeputte, Terracciano; Vardy, Bonazzoli

Unavailable: Pezzella (Suspended), Tonny Sanabria (Injured)

Questionable: Payero (Illness)

Sassuolo vs Cremonese prediction

That draw with Verona in Cremona last weekend has continued Cremonese’s dip in form with it extending their current winless run of form to seven matches. Sassuolo are also dipping at the moment, too, with their slender defeat to the Neapolitans extending the hosts’ winless run of form to seven matches. These are two out of form sides that would simply seek to avoid defeat here and so a low-scoring encounter at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia seems the way to go for this one.

Sassuolo vs Cremonese tip: Under 2.5 goals
