Saint-Etienne Preview: St Etienne struggles

Saint-Etienne begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting in the bottom two and the automatic relegation places with just five victories in their 25 matches so far this season, despite the mid-season appointment of Eirik Hornestad, who has replaced Olivier Dall’Oglio in the dugout.

They may well be awarded three points for a game against Montpellier Herault before the March international break, which had to be suspended late on due to Montpellier’s supporter protests with ASSE leading by two goals to nil at Stade de la Mosson.

Paris Saint-Germain Preview: Parisien brilliance

Former Barcelona coach Luis Enrique is in charge of an extremely impressive Paris Saint-Germain squad that could well be on for the treble this season, most recently extending their lead at the top-of-the-table to 19 points before the March international break.

That means PSG could win Ligue 1 as soon as this week if Marseille lose to Reims on Saturday and the Parisiens win in Saint-Etienne. In midweek, they face Dunkerque in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France before a UEFA Champions League quarter-final against Aston Villa.

Saint-Etienne Team News: Bernauer suspended

Saint-Etienne will be without Maxime Bernauer for this weekend’s visit of PSG due to suspension. New Zealand international attacker Ben Old has been unavailable due to an ACL injury throughout the campaign but he is edging his way back to full fitness.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Larsonneur; Macon, Abdelhamid, Nade, Petrot; Moueffek, Ekwah; Cardona, Bouchouari, Davitashvili; Stassin

Unavailable: Bernauer (Suspended)

Questionable: Moueffek (Injured), Old (Injured)

Paris Saint-Germain Team News: Some issues

PSG have been blessed with a fully fit and available squad for the last couple of months but they are now without young midfielder Senny Mayulu, whilst attackers such as Lee Kang-in and Goncalo Ramos are also doubts, too.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Beraldo, Willian Pacho, Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Unavailable: Mayulu (Suspended)

Questionable: Arnau Tenas (Injured), Lee (Injured), Ramos (Injured)

Saint-Etienne vs Paris Saint-Germain Prediction

Saint-Etienne will try and play a very defensive and solid style of football in the final few weeks of the campaign as they try and push themselves out of the two automatic relegation spots. They face a PSG side, though, that will expect to maintain their relentless style of football. They are a side that are threatening to break records in France and, with Luis Enrique’s ruthless mentality, a comfortable away win is to be expected as per usual.

Saint-Etienne vs Paris Saint-Germain Tip: PSG to win -1 handicap
