Ryan Meikle vs Jesus Salate prediction

After watching the exploits of David Munyua the day before, Jesus Salate will have surely taken heart from the Kenyan coming from two sets down to beat Mike De Decker, causing a dramatic shock in his Ally Pally debut. Like Kenya’s Munyua, Salate will become the first player from his home country to appear at the World Darts Championship, in his case Argentina.

Ryan Meikle has to navigate this potentially hazardous clash and has plenty of recent World Darts Championship experience to call upon. He’s competed in five previous editions of this tournament, reaching the second round in each of his last three appearances. Last year saw him significantly impress against an under-par Luke Littler, which must have at least filled Meikle with hope for the future, despite his eventual defeat.

Salate finished at the summit of the CDLC table this year, his route to World Darts Championship qualification. He also boasts major televised experience having represented his country at the World Cup of Darts. With nothing to lose, Salate could well surprise Meikle and is capable of taking at least a set with the short format. Therefore, consider backing a match that goes over 3.5 total sets.
