The host nation may be out of contention for the knockout stage, but Slovakia will want to finish on a high in front of their own fans.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Channel 4 / US – Not televised

How to watch online: UK – Channel 4 / US – Disney+ & ViX

Key stats

  • This is the first U21 EURO finals match between these teams. They have met six times in qualifying with two wins for each team and two draws. The most recent encounters were in the 2013 edition when Romania won both matches 2-0.
  • Romania have won only one of their last nine U21 EURO group matches (D4 L4).
  • Slovakia have never lost all three matches in a U21 EURO final tournament group.

Romania vs Slovakia prediction

Both of these two teams cannot progress further with Romania and Slovakia each losing their two Group A fixtures against both Italy and Spain. However, neither will want to finish bottom of the group, particularly Slovakia who are playing at home and are desperately to make an impression to the country’s supporters and to the Slovakian federation.

With them each eliminated, a more open game may be in prospect as the shackles are perhaps loosened by the respective head coaches with less focus on defensive stability and more on pushing bodies forward in an attempt to score goals. With that in mind, backing over 2.5 goals across 90 minutes looks a smart move here.

Romania vs Slovakia tip: Over 2.5 goals
