Roma preview: Trying to kick on
Gian Piero Gasperini and his Roma side have been a lot more defensive and controlling than to be expected, but it has brought them results with seven victories in their opening ten matches of the Serie A campaign thus far.
The Romans come into this one on the back of also comfortably defeating Scottish giants Rangers by two goals to nil at Ibrox in midweek, courtesy of first-half strikes from Matias Soule and Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Udinese preview: Strong Udinese
Under the management of former Legia Warsaw boss Kosta Runjaic, Udinese appear surprisingly settled at the moment as they sit tucked inside the top-half of the Serie A table with some good form of late.
The Friulians’ good form continued last weekend as they defeated a struggling Atalanta side by a goal to nil at the Bluenergy Stadium in the north east of Italy, courtesy of a 40th minute winner scored by Italy international attacking midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.

With their home advantage, Roma will believe they can again grind their way to victory. There is an expectation that Gasperini develops some attacking fluency in Rome, but he isn’t helped by consistent injury issues. They face an Udinese side that have shown some good quality despite plenty of attacking departures over the summer. As Roma search for some attacking form and so become a bit more adventurous, both teams scoring may well be a rogue but value bet at the Olimpico.
