Roma preview: Gasp’s Roma

Over the summer, Roma managed to appoint former Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini and Roma have started the season very well, albeit not quite with the overly attacking style of football that Gasperini became known for in Bergamo.

Roma begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting second in the table, only behind defending champions Napoli on goal difference in Serie A. They have managed five victories in their six matches so far this season.

Inter Milan preview: Indifferent Inter

Internazionale lost manager Simone Inzaghi to Al Hilal before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup this summer and he has been replaced by former Parma boss Cristian Chivu, and it has been an indifferent start to the season for Inter thus far.

The Nerazzurri did manage three successive victories ahead of the October international break, though, having most recently hammered Cremonese by four goals to one at San Siro a couple of weeks ago.

Roma team news: Bailey working his way back

After joining from Aston Villa in the summer, Jamaica international winger Leon Bailey remains a doubt, whilst defenders Wesley and Angelino are also both potentially unavailable.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Celik, Mancini, Ndicka; Rensch, Cristante, Kone, Tsimikas; Matias Soule, Baldanzi; Dovbyk

Unavailable: Bove (Illness)

Questionable: Wesley (Injured), Angelino (Injured), Bailey (Injured)

Inter Milan team news: Thuram a doubt

France international forward Marcus Thuram is a doubt for this weekend’s trip to Rome. They do, though, have a couple of confirmed absentees, such as Raffaele Di Gennaro and Matteo Darmian.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommer; Akanji, De Vrij, Bastoni; Dumfries, Frattesi, Barella, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Bonny, Lautaro Martinez

Unavailable: Di Gennaro (Injured), Darmian (Injured)

Questionable: Thuram (Injured)

Roma vs Inter Milan prediction

Roma will be expected to eventually find a way of playing a more high octane style of football under the management of Gasperini. The Giallorossi do still have to learn the patterns of play that Gasperini wants. Chivu suggested he may tweak things with Inter but he has stuck by their 3-5-2 system and relied upon their experience but they are in danger of stagnating and, at the Olimpico, siding with the Romans would appear the way to go for this one.

Roma vs Inter Milan tip: Double chance – Roma to win or draw
