Roma have been much-improved this season but, again, need to find some form, as they welcome Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa to the capital city this weekend.

Roma preview: Steady Romans

Following the appointment of former Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini, Roma have been improved in terms of results this season, as they remain tucked inside the top four ahead of the 16th match day of the campaign.

Performances have been somewhat underwhelming, though, as the Romans head into this one on the back of a 2-1 loss to Juventus making it now three defeats in their last four matches in Serie A.

Genoa preview: Improved Genovese

It was an extremely difficult start to the season for Genoa and, after going winless in their opening nine matches of the campaign, they decided to part company with Patrick Vieira and replace him with former Roma boss Daniele De Rossi.

The Genovese have been improved since that change but they have suffered back-to-back defeats ahead of this one, losing 2-1 at home to Internazionale before a 1-0 loss to Atalanta at the Luigi Ferraris last weekend.

Roma team news: AFCON absentees

The Romans are having to deal with a couple of players away at CAF Africa Cup of Nations as both Evan Ndicka and Neil El Aynaoui are now unavailable for the hosts.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Svilar; Mancini, Ziolkowski, Rensch; Celik, Cristante, Kone, Wesley; Matias Soule, Pellegrini; Dybala

Unavailable: Ndicka (International duty), Bove (Illness), El Aynaoui (International duty)

Questionable: Bailey (Injured), Dovbyk (Injured)

Genoa team news: Leali suspended

Back-up goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist remains an injury doubt for Genoa and now first-choice shot stopper Nicola Leali is missing through suspension for the home team.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Sommariva; Marcandalli, Otoa, Johan Vasquez; Norton-Cuffy, Ellertsson, Frendrup, Malinovskiy, Caricol; Vitinha, Ekuban

Unavailable: Leali (Suspended), Onana (Injured)

Questionable: Siegrist (Injured), Thorsby (Injured), Gronbaek (Injured), Junior Messias (Injured), Cornet (Injured)

Roma vs Genoa prediction

Daniele De Rossi returns to Rome and will get the reception of a hero and a legend. On the pitch, though, Gian Piero Gasperini’s Giallorossi will be very reluctant to show much mercy or respect. They haven’t found fluency and cohesion in attack just yet but are much-improved. They need to bounce back and, despite their own improvement, a trip to the Stadio Olimpico does still look to be too steep a step for Genoa to take just yet.

Roma vs Genoa tip: Roma to win & under 3.5 goals
