Rennes vs Nice Preview: Team News & Prediction

This should be a really entertaining clash, or at least intriguing, as Stade Rennais prepare to welcome an unusual Nice side to Roazhon Park this weekend.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Not televised / US – beIN Sports

How to watch online: UK – Ligue 1 pass / US – beIN Sports Connect

Rennes preview: Chaotic Rennes

Stade Rennais come into this one on the back of four successive draws either side of the October international break as they sit just outside of the top seven and the European spots in Ligue 1, as they do remain in the top-half of Ligue 1.

Coached by former Newcastle United and Aston Villa right-back Habib Beye, Rennes most recently shared a frustrating 2-2 draw with struggling Auxerre last weekend in a game in which they did lead 2-1 until reasonably late on.

Nice preview: INEOS-focused Nice

Now owning Manchester United, INEOS have made it clear that they aren’t overly interested in bothering with operating Nice, and yet the southerners are still trying to fight both domestically as well as on the continent.

In midweek, Lucien Faivre’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Celta Vigo at Balaidos in Galicia in Spain in the league phase of the UEFA Europa League, making it just one win in their last six matches across all competitions.

Rennes team news: Couple of doubts

Stade Rennais head into this one with a couple of doubts as Poland international wing-back Przemyslaw Frankowski is potentially sidelined alongside Finland international midfielder Glen Kamara.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Samba; Seidu, Jacquet, Rouault; Camara, Blas, Rongier, Fofana, Merlin; Lepaul, Embolo

Unavailable:

Questionable: Frankowski (Injured), Kamara (Injured)

Nice team news: Defensive injuries

Nice are dealing with longer term defensive injury issues for this one as both Mohamed Abdelmonem and Youssouf Ndayishimiye are sidelined alongside Canada international centre-back Moise Bombito.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Diouf; Mendy, Dante, Peprah Oppong; Clauss, Boudaoui, Vanhoutte, Bard; Boga, Cho, Diop

Unavailable: Abdelmonem (Injured), Moise Bombito (Injured), Ndayishimiye (Injured), Moffi (Injured)

Questionable:

Rennes vs Nice prediction

Nice have been very entertaining to watch throughout this season with Lucien Faivre doing an admirable job in continuing to develop and coach the abundance of young talent at his disposal, despite the off-field neglect. Rennes, though, are a side that are proving difficult to beat and certainly capable of getting on the front foot, too, so both teams scoring may well be a good bet for this one.

Rennes vs Nice tip: Both teams to score
