The first-leg of this Copa del Rey semi-final at San Mames in Bilbao a couple of weeks ago saw Real Sociedad defeat Athletic Club by a goal to nil, courtesy of a 62nd minute strike from midfielder Benat Turrientes.
Real Sociedad edged past Real Mallorca in the Balearic Islands at the weekend and, ever since the appointment of Pellegrino Matarazzo, have been much-improved of late, having succumbed to just one defeat in their last 14 matches across all competitions. Athletic have rediscovered their own form, too, since their elimination from the league phase of the UEFA Champions League in January.
