Real Madrid preview: Edging through

Real Madrid come into this one on the back of a 2-1 victory over Benfica in the second-leg of their UEFA Champions League knockout playoff round tie to complete a 3-1 aggregate victory in a controversial tie against the Portuguese giants.

In between those legs against Benfica, Real Madrid were knocked off top spot as a result of a very frustrating 2-1 defeat to Osasuna at the hostile ground that is El Sadar in Pamplona.

Getafe preview: Frustrating to watch

With Jose Bordalas at the helm, Getafe play some of the most tedious and aggravating football in Europe but they often overperform their resources and their general pre-season expectations.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat at home to Sevilla at the Coliseum in their most recent outing last weekend. That ended a four-match unbeaten run of form in La Liga.

Real Madrid team news: Defensive issues

Raul Asencio was stretchered off with what appeared to be a neck injury against Benfica and Madrid have other issues at centre-back, such as Dean Huijsen and Eder Militao.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Rudiger, Alaba, Carreras; Tchouameni; Fede Valverde, Camavinga; Guler; Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior

Unavailable: Dean Huijsen (Injured), Eder Militao (Injured), Dani Ceballos (Injured), Bellingham (Injured), Mbappe (Injured)

Questionable: Raul Asencio (Injured)

Getafe team news: Djene suspended

Getafe are without versatile defender Djene, as he is missing through suspension, while his fellow defender, Davinchi, is also an injury absentee for the visitors.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): David Soria; Domingos Duarte, Sebastian Boselli, Diego Rico; Kiko Femenia, Luis Milla, Mario Martin, Mauro Arambarri, Juan Iglesias; Luis Vazquez, Martin Satriano

Unavailable: Davinchi (Injured), Djene (Suspended), Kamara (Injured)

Questionable: Abqar (Injured), Borja Mayoral (Injured)

Real Madrid vs Getafe prediction

Alvaro Arbeloa appeared to have been finding some form and some fluency for Real Madrid but Los Blancos have stuttered again against Osasuna and Benfica. Getafe will head into the city thinking that they can put on a show in terms of literally putting on a show with their play acting and so-called ‘dark arts’. They will frustrate the hosts, as well as the neutral, but Madrid should still come out on top.

Real Madrid vs Getafe tip: Real Madrid to win & under 3.5 goals
