Real Betis preview: Busy midweek

Manuel Pellegrini’s 2024/25 UEFA Europa Conference League finalists Real Betis come into this one on the back of a thrilling 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest at La Cartuja in a game in which they went 1-0 up, 2-1 down and then snatched a late Antony equaliser.

Los Verdiblancos have been typically inconsistent at the start of this season, albeit occasionally enterprising, as was the case in their impressive 3-1 defeat of a poor Real Sociedad side in La Liga last weekend.

Osasuna preview: Denied a win

Osasuna also had a game with a late equaliser in midweek but it went against them as the Pamplona-based outfit were denied all three points at home to newly-promoted Elche due to a late strike from former Sevilla defender Adria Pedrosa.

The visitors, now under the management of former Mirandes boss Alessio Lisci, are trying to play a more reactive and defensive style of football, and that has shown by the fact they have scored just five goals in their six matches so far this season.

Real Betis team news: No Diego Llorente

There is one fresh injury concern for Betis to deal with ahead of the visit of Osasuna this weekend as former Leeds United centre-back Diego Llorente is dealing with a strain.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pau Lopez; Aitor Ruibal, Valentin Gomez, Natan, Junior Firpo; Amrabat, Pablo Fornals; Antony, Lo Celso, Abde Ez; Cucho

Unavailable: Marc Bartra (Injured), Diego Llorente (Injured), Nelson Deossa (Injured), Isco (Injured), Pablo Garcia (lnjured)

Questionable:

Osasuna team news: No Ruben Garcia

Osasuna are now having to deal without Ruben Garcia for this weekend. Valentin Rosier is still missing through suspension, too, whilst Aimar Oroz is also sidelined through injury.

Predicted XI (3-1-4-2): Sergio Herrera; Boyomo, Alejandro Catena, Jorge Herrando; Lucas Torro; Iker Benito, Jon Moncayola, Moi Gomez, Abel Bretones; Victor Munoz, Budimir

Unavailable: Rosier (Suspended), Aimar Oroz (Injured), Ruben Garcia (Injured)

Questionable:

Real Betis vs Osasuna prediction

Real Betis have an abundance of talent and quality. They are able to rotate when they play in Europe and in the league, albeit not quite as much as they would like for the time being due to injuries. Osasuna seem to only be able to score a maximum of one goal at this stage so, as a result, Betis should be viewed as favourites simply on the basis that, with home advantage especially, they should out score their opponents this weekend.
