RB Leipzig preview: Free-scoring bulls

RB Leipzig have developed a really fun habit of finding the net with regularity recently, racking up the goals and with that their goal difference. Their most recent league fixture saw Leipzig go into Augsburg and destroy the hosts, thrashing them by six goals to nil, making a big statement in the process.

Like their opponents here, Leipzig advanced through to the next round of the DFB-Pokal in midweek, comfortably getting the better of Energie Cottbus 1-4. That means they now boast ten goals scored across this past week.

Stuttgart preview: Rocketing into contention

Things didn’t look great for Stuttgart following a 2-1 defeat to begin the Bundesliga season but since then, they’ve been on fire and looking like the Stuttgart side who qualified for the Champions League back in 2023-24 against all the odds. Six straight league wins speaks for itself and another here would take them into second-place.

Stuttgart were also victorious in midweek, advancing through to the next round in their defence of the DFB-Pokal, defeating Mainz by two goals to nil, their second win in less than a week against Bo Henriksen’s men.

RB Leipzig team news: Two missing

RB Leipzig are without two players for the visit of Stuttgart. Defenders Benjamin Henrichs and Kosta Nedeljkovic will both miss out through their respective injuries.

Predicted XI: (4-3-3): Gulacsi; Baku, Orban, Lukeba, Raum; Ouedraogo, Schlager, Baumgartner; Bakayoko, Romulo, Nusa

Unavailable: Henrichs (Injured), Nedeljkovic (Injured)

Stuttgart team news: Decision to make in attack

A big decision for Sebastian Hoeness is likely to be whether he opts for El Khannouss or Fuhrich as part of the front three, with the latter having scored last weekend.

Predicted XI: (3-4-3)Nubel; Jeltsch, Chabot, Hendriks; Assignon, Chema, Stiller, Mittelstadt; Leweling, Undav, Fuhrich

Unavailable: Demirovic (Injured), Diehl (Injured), Drljaca (Injured), Zagadou (Injured)

Questionable: Tomas (Injured)

RB Leipzig vs Stuttgart prediction

Stuttgart are one of three Bundesliga teams coming into this round of fixtures on the back of four consecutive league victories, with Hoeness’ side having won six in a row since that loss to Union Berlin on the opening weekend. This puts into perspective the challenged facing RB Leipzig, who are at home and in brilliant form themselves with 13 points from the last 15 available to them.

The two clubs are impressing at both ends of the field and it would be no surprise whichever way this one went. Neither will want to give up their respective unbeaten streaks and lose any momentum which has been gained over the past month or so. Don’t expect any huge risks to be taken as the game goes on and it may well be the case that the pair settle for a share of the spoils.

RB Leipzig vs Stuttgart tip: Draw
