RB Leipzig Preview: Need a run

Marco Rose is under a bit of pressure at the Red Bull Arena as RB Leipzig begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting outside of the top five in the Bundesliga behind the likes of Mainz 05, Eintracht Frankfurt and Freiburg in the table.

The hosts most recently shared a goalless draw with the aforementioned Freiburg after losing by two goals to one against the aforementioned Mainz. That means they have managed just one victory in their last nine matches in the league.

Borussia Dortmund Preview: European form

Borussia Dortmund defeated Lille by three goals to two on aggregate in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League in midweek. They went behind on the night at Stade Pierre-Mauroy but turned things around in the second-half thanks to goals from Emre Can and Maximilian Beier.

Last season, Dortmund finished fifth in the Bundesliga but reached the final of the UEFA Champions League and now, this time around, they are firmly in the middle-of-the-table despite Niko Kovac coming into replace Nuri Sahin a month and a half ago.

RB Leipzig Team News: A few injuries

RB Leipzig are dealing with a few key injury issues for this weekend with the likes of Assan Ouedraogo, Benjamin Henrichs and former Club Brugge attacker Antonio Nusa confirmed absentees. Both Lukas Klostermann and Xaver Schlager are doubts, too.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Gulacsi; Geertruida, Orban, Bitshiabu, Raum; Baku, Kampl, Vermeeren, Simons; Openda, Sesko

Unavailable: Ouedraogo (Injured), Henrichs (Injured), Nusa (Injured)

Questionable: Klostermann (Injured), Schlager (Injured)

Borussia Dortmund Team News: Nothing new

With Dortmund’s domestic season more or less a complete embarrassment, they may well make a few changes for this one with no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues. Key midfielder Felix Nmecha remains sidelined due to a knee injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Couto, Can, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Ozcan, Gross; Adeyemi, Brandt, Bynoe-Gittens; Guirassy

Unavailable: Svensson (Injured), Nmecha (Injured)

Questionable: Chukwuemeka (Fitness)

RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund Prediction

Throughout the campaign, RB Leipzig have underwhelmed. They were awful in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League and, even though results were good at the start of the season, performances were alarming. Dortmund, on the other hand, have continued to go backwards domestically despite their continued relative success on the continent. Based on how poor both sides have been, it may well worth just be siding with home advantage here because it would be a surprise to see Dortmund going to the Red Bull Arena.

RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund Tip: Double chance – RB Leipzig to win or draw
