A meeting in mid-January between two members of the top four should be a potentially decisive clash for the title but that isn’t the case as RB Leipzig face Bayern Munich.

RB Leipzig preview: Improved RB Leipzig

Both the team and the organisation of Red Bull required an improvement last summer and a bit of an overhaul took place with Ole Werner now in the dugout at RB Leipzig as they seek to re-establish themselves at the top end of the Bundesliga.

They have been much-improved this time around and bounce back from back-to-back defeats either side of the mid-season winter break by easing to a comfortable 2-0 defeat of Freiburg the other day at the Red Bull Arena.

Bayern Munich preview: Still unbeaten

After 17 matches of the Bundesliga campaign, Bayern Munich sit at the top-of-the-table with an 11-point lead, having managed 15 victories with two draws as the Bavarians motor under the management of former Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.

They returned from the winter break with an 8-1 demolition of Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena last weekend before then eventually easing to a 3-1 win away at a fighting Cologne side during the midweek.

RB Leipzig team news: A few doubts

Leipzig are dealing with a few injury doubts for this one, such as full-backs Lukas Klostermann and Benjamin Henrichs, as well as former PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Gulacsi; Baku, Orban, Lukeba, Raum; Baumgartner, Seiwald, Schlager; Ouderaogo, Romulo, Gomis

Unavailable: Gebel (Injured)

Questionable: Klostermann (Injured), Henrichs (Injured), Bakayoko (Injured)

Bayern Munich team news: Jackson at AFCON

Senegal have reached the final of the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, where they will face hosts Morocco, and that means Bayern Munich therefore remain without Nicolas Jackson.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Pavlovic, Kim, Tah, Ito; Bischof, Goretzka; Olise, Gnabry, Luis Diaz; Kane

Unavailable: Stanisic (Injured), Laimer (Injured), Jackson (International duty)

Questionable: Boey (Injured), Davies (Injured), Kimmich (Injured), Musiala (Injured)

RB Leipzig vs Bayern Munich prediction

RB Leipzig away may well be the toughest test Bayern Munich have left this season and there is a feeling that should they navigate it without a loss then the Bavarians will romp to the 2025/26 title in an unbeaten campaign. The hosts will believe that they can exploit some of the space perhaps afforded to them but the level of aggression and intensity of the visitors marks them out as overwhelming favourites once again.
