Rayo Vallecano preview: Intense Rayo

Rayo Vallecano come into this one on the back of a thrilling 3-2 loss to Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano in the capital city the other day in a Madrid derby in midweek, taking a 2-1 lead before a late turnaround from Los Rojiblancos.

Coached by Inigo Perez, Rayo Vallecano have again put in some very good performances throughout the campaign with an intense style of football, but they are winless since their 3-1 victory over Girona on the opening day of the campaign.

Sevilla preview: Andalusian struggles

After a few seasons of circling the drain quite slowly in La Liga, there is an expectation that off-field financial issues could finally propel Sevilla into a proper relegation battle this season, now under the management of Argentine coach Matias Almeyda.

The Andalusians come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat at home to Villarreal at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Seville last weekend. Their performances haven’t been too poor so far, with two victories and a draw in their opening six matches.

Rayo Vallecano team news: Defensive injuries

Rayo Vallecano have a couple of longer term defensive absentees for this one, such as Abdul Mumin and Luiz Felipe, whilst Angola international striker Randy Nteka is also sidelined.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Augusto Batalla; Balliu, Lejeune, Vertrouwd, Pep Chavarria; Ratiu, Oscar Valentin, Unai Lopez, Fran Perez; Isi Palazon, Alemao

Unavailable: Mumin (Injured), Luiz Felipe (Injured), Nteka (Injured)

Sevilla team news: Fresh doubts

After starting against Villarreal the other day, both Tanguy Nianzou and Adnan Januzaj are both doubtful for this weekend alongside both Joan Jordan and Alfon.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Vlachodimos; Cesar Azpilicueta, Gudelj, Marcao; Jose Angel Carmona, Agoume, Mendy, Suazo; Vargas, Sanchez; Isaac Romero

Unavailable:

Questionable: Nianzou (Injured), Joan Jordan (Injured), Alfon (Injured), Januzaj (Injured)

Rayo Vallecano vs Sevilla prediction

Rayo Vallecano will once again try to suffocate their opposition on the woeful pitch of Vallecas this weekend. Rayo have been playing well but could do with a victory and this is a very good time to get one against a Sevilla side that will be concerned that they have been playing at their highest level without getting too many results due to a sheer lack of quality across the park, and Rayo would remain favourites for this one in the capital city.
