Key stats

  • This is the first UEFA meeting between Rangers and Ludogorets, and it also marks Ludogorets’ debut against Scottish opposition.
  • Rangers have met Bulgarian opposition on two previous occasions in UEFA competition. They defeated Slavia Sofia 2-0 on aggregate in the semi‑finals of the 1966/67 Cup Winners’ Cup, winning 1-0 both away and at home. Their second encounter came in the first round of the 1993/94 UEFA Champions League, where they were eliminated on away goals by Levski Sofia after a 3-2 home victory was followed by a 2-1 defeat in Sofia.
  • Rangers are winless in their last nine UEFA competition matches (D1 L8).
  • Rangers have won their last six matches in all competitions.
  • Ludogorets are unbeaten in their last eight matches in all competitions (W6 D2).
  • Ludogorets have won only one of their last 11 UEFA competition matches away from home (D5 L5).

Rangers vs Ludogorets prediction

Following the appointment of former Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl, Rangers have been much-improved this season. The Bears hammered Annan Athletic at the weekend to make it six wins on the bounce. However, they have remained poor in the UEFA Europa League with just one point collected from their six matches.

They now face a Ludogorets Razgrad side that are tucked inside the top 24 with two games to go in the league phase. The Bulgarian champions have struggled domestically, too, as they sit third in the Bulgarian First League, seven points adrift of league leaders Levski Sofia.

Ludogorets may well benefit from Rangers deciding the good thing to do is to heavily rotate in this one and so siding with the visitors at Ibrox seems a good value bet.

Rangers vs Ludogorets tip: Double chance – Ludogorets to win or draw
