Polish outfit Rakow Czestochowa began their 2025/26 campaign with a slender 1-0 defeat of GKS Katowice to kick off their Polish Ekstraklasa season. Rakow won the Polish top-flight in 2024, but regressed to a more normal and befitting second place finish last year, finishing just a point behind Lech Poznan.
They now face an MSK Zilina side that were runners’ up in the Slovak First League table under the management of Pavol Stano, behind the dominant force of Slovakian football Slovan Bratislava. They haven’t played European football since reaching the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa Conference League a couple of seasons ago.
These are two seemingly well matched sides on paper, but Rakow would have to be viewed as firm favourites for this tie, especially with their home advantage.
