Qarabag preview: Entertaining Qarabag

Under the management of Gurban Gurbanov, who has been in charge since 2008, Qarabag come into this one on the back of continuing progression in Europe in recent years into this season at UEFA Champions League level.

They enjoyed victories against Benfica, Copenhagen and Eintracht Frankfurt in the league phase, as well as a draw with Chelsea, while also proving to be competitive and thrilling against Athletic Club and Ajax.

Newcastle preview: Much-needed victories

Eddie Howe has come under pressure at Newcastle United. So much so that Kieran Trippier addressed that in favour of his manager in the aftermath of the Magpies’ 3-1 defeat of Aston Villa in the fourth round of the FA Cup at Villa Park at the weekend.

That win came after the back of another much-needed victory in the Premier League as the Tynesiders defeated Tottenham Hotspur by two goals to one at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in north London.

Qarabag team news: Fully fit

Ahead of the visit of Newcastle to Baku this week, Qarabag have a fully fit and available squad and so can name an unchanged eleven from their 6-0 loss at Anfield.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Kochalski; Silva, Mustafadze, Medina, Cafarguliyev; Bicalho, Jankovic; Andrade, Montiel, Zoubir; Duran

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Newcastle team news: Key doubts

To go with a full midfield being out injured, as well as Tino Livramento, Newcastle are also dealing with the fact that both Sven Botman and Yoane Wissa are doubtful, too.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Pope; Trippier, Thiaw, Burn, Hall; Willock, Tonali, Ramsey; Elanga, Woltemade, Gordon

Unavailable: Schar (Injured), Livramento (Injured), Krafth (Injured), Miley (Injured), Guimaraes (Injured), Joelinton (Injured)

Questionable: Botman (Injured), Wissa (Injured)

Qarabag vs Newcastle prediction

Newcastle haven’t been brilliant in their recent and needed victories but they have been much-improved of late, given just how poor they were. They will be expected to come out on top quite comfortably against Qarabag, though, despite their fallibilities. Those fallibilities will likely present opportunities for a Qarabag side that are good at punching above their weight in Baku.

Qarabag vs Newcastle Tip: Newcastle to win & over 2.5 goals
