Portugal team news: Nazareth getting closer

Whilst she didn’t feature against Spain, Kika Nazareth isn’t far away from action and after being named in the squad, it would be no surprise if she saw minutes here at some point with Portugal’s tournament hopes on the line.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Pereira; Gomes, Costa, F. Pinto; Borges, Jacinto, T. Pinto, Norton, Amado; J. Silva, D. Silva

Unavailable:

Questionable: Nazareth (Fitness)

Italy team news: Beccari out of the squad

Chiara Beccari has left the squad after suffering a thigh strain in training ahead of the Belgium match. Valentina Bergamaschi replaced Beccari in the squad and could see her first action of the tournament off the bench.

Predicted XI (3-5-2): Giuliani; Lenzini, Salvai, Linari; Di Guglielmo, Caruso, Giugliano, Severini, Boattin; Cantore, Girelli

Unavailable: Beccari (Injured)

Portugal vs Italy prediction

Whilst Italy certainly don’t offer the same attacking threat as Spain, they remain a dangerous outfit and Portugal will need to improve defensively to stand a chance of getting something out of this encounter. Italy’s backline were expected to be strong across the tournament and key to their hopes of success, so they won’t be expected to give up much here after shutting down Belgium.

Portugal not having Nazareth fully fit and available is clearly hurting them and if she plays no part against Italy, then Portugal may well struggle again in attack. With that in mind, a low-scoring game could be on the cards.

But with Portugal needing to win, they really need to take more risks and that could come back to hurt them due to their potential vulnerability on the counter-attack. Backing Italy along with under 3.5 goals should be seriously considered.

Portugal vs Italy tip: Italy to win and under 3.5 goals
