The Portland Timbers come into this one on the back of a thrilling 5-2 victory over Puebla to start the league phase of this competition before a 3-1 loss to Liga MX Apertura leaders Club America a few days later.
Tijuana had started the 2026-27 Liga MX Apertura campaign well but their form has not continued into this competition with a 2-0 loss to Austin in Texas before a 1-0 loss to San Diego.
Tijuana appear to have put this competition on the back burner and Portland, who sit eighth in Major League Soccer’s Western Conference, have to be viewed as favourites here.
