Port Vale vs Cardiff prediction

Former Sheffield Wednesday and West Bromwich Albion boss Darren Moore led Port Vale to automatic promotion in League Two last season, and the Valiants are expected to be competitive in the relegation battle this year. They began their 2025/26 League One campaign with a hard-fought 2-1 defeat to Rotherham United last weekend.

They now face a Cardiff City side that are experiencing a bit of uncertainty off the pitch, with no new signings made. Brian Barry-Murphy has taken the reins in south Wales, and he led the Bluebirds to a come from behind 2-1 defeat of Peterborough United at the Cardiff City Stadium last weekend on the opening day.

Cardiff aren’t expected to challenge too much for the top two this year, but they remain strong and have a reasonable fixture list to kick off with so backing them to start with back-to-back victories seems a good bet.
