Paris preview: Ambitious Parisians
Following their promotion to Ligue 1 last season, Paris FC have established themselves as team that are wanting to punch above their weight as one of the wealthiest clubs in Europe, albeit their form had taken a turn in recent matches.
The Parisians do, though, now come into this one on the back of a slender and shock 1-0 victory over an in-form Monaco side at Stade Louis II last weekend, courtesy of a second-half winner scored by Nigeria international striker Moses Simon.
Rennes preview: Up and down Rennes
Stade Rennais are a team that have been in flux for a while with some fairly bizarre recruitment policies that haven’t really had joined up thinking, but they are beginning to find some steadiness with Habib Beye at the helm.
Rennes head into this one having produced a surprising hammering of Strasbourg by four goals to one at Roazhon Park last weekend, courtesy of a goal from Mohamed Kader Meite, as well as an Emanuel Lepaul hat-trick.
Paris team news: Couple of doubts
Former Real Sociedad right-back Ham Traore is now a doubt for the hosts alongside Vincent Marchetti, whilst key attacker Jonathan Ikone is sidelined through injury.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Trapp; Chergui, Mbow, Otavio, Ollila; Lees-Melou, Camara; Kebbal, Lopez, Simon; Krasso
Unavailable: Sangui (Injured), Ikone (Injured)
Questionable: Traore (Injured), Marchetti (Injured)
Rennes team news: Ait Boudlal suspended
Rennes defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal is missing through suspension for this one, whilst fellow defender Alidu Seidu remains a doubt as he deals with illness.
Predicted XI (3-5-2): Samba; Nagida, Jacquet, Brassier; Frankowski, Camara, Rongier, Cisse, Al Tamari; Lepaul, Meite
Unavailable: Ait Boudlal (Suspended), Mukiele (Injured)
Questionable: Seidu (Injured)
Paris vs Rennes prediction
Their last game at home saw Paris fight back from 3-0 against Olympique Lyonnais to earn a draw after back-to-back defeats, and that fight back may well have propelled them to a new level if their showing against Monaco is anything to go by. That won’t stop a now in-form Rennes side from believing they are the firm favourites here and so both teams scoring would have to be a good bet for this one in the French capital city.
