Paris preview: Ambitious and wealthy

Paris FC, following their promotion to the top-flight last season, have spent heavily throughout this season as they seek to push into the top-half of the table, let alone comfortably surviving in Ligue 1.

The Parisians come into this one on the back of a goalless draw with a steady and mid-table Angers side in their most recent outing at Stade Jean-Bouin, meaning that they have now suffered just one defeat in their last eight matches across all competitions.

Marseille preview: Frustrated Marseille

Olympique de Marseille succumbed to a woeful performance and result in midweek as Roberto De Zerbi’s French giants suffered a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Club Brugge, knocking them out of the top 24 of the UEFA Champions League in dramatic fashion.

Their inconsistency has been on show brilliantly in the last week or so after they had managed to defeat title challenging Lens by three goals to one at Stade Velodrome down on the south coast of France last weekend.

Paris team news: A couple of doubts

The home team are dealing with a couple of doubts for this week’s visit of Marseille as defender Thibault De Smet is potentially sidelined alongside Pierre-Yves Hamel.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Trapp; Mbow, Otavio, Kolodziejczak; Traore, Marchetti, Camara, Sangui; Kebbal, Krasso, Gory

Unavailable: Chergui (Injured)

Questionable: De Smet (Injured), Hamel (Injured)

Marseille team news: Angel Gomes suspended

England international midfielder Angel Gomes is the reported subject of interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers but he is missing through suspension for this one.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Rulli; Balerdi, Aguerd, Medina; Weah, Hojbjerg, Timber, Igor Paixao; Nwaneri, Traore; Gouiri

Unavailable: Emerson (Injured), Gomes (Suspended)

Questionable:

Paris vs Marseille prediction

Marseille head to the capital city on the back of some immense disappointment in midweek. There is now quite a lot of pressure on former Brighton and Hove Albion boss De Zerbi after the money that has been spent by l’OM. Paris are a side that have beaten the best of France already this month with a Coupe de France victory over Paris Saint-Germain a couple of weeks ago so, while Marseille remain favourites, it will not be straightforward for the visitors.
