Paris preview: Need to get back on track

Following an ambitious summer transfer window, Paris started the season well but the capital city club have since hit a little bit of a rocky patch that they will hope to overcome to push into the top six or seven in Ligue 1.

The home team come into this one on the back of back-to-back defeats since the October international break, most recently losing 2-1 at home to what was a struggling Nantes side at the weekend.

Lyon preview: Steady Lyon

John Textor has taken a step back from his involvement in Olympique Lyonnais and things have calmed down around the club with Paulo Fonseca’s side also becoming a lot more serious on the pitch as they begin the week sitting tucked inside the top four.

Lyon had suffered back-to-back losses either side of the break but they now come into this one on the back of an impressive and hard-fought 2-1 defeat of Strasbourg at Parc OL at the weekend, with a late winner scored by Afonso Moreira.

Paris team news: A few doubts

Paris have a few key doubts for this week, such as Mathieu Cafaro, Pierre-Yves Hamel and Julien Lopez, whilst versatile defender Nhoa Sangui is a confirmed absentee.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Nkambadio; Traore, Chergui, Mbow, De Smet; M. Lopez, Lees-Melou, Marchetti; Kebbal, Krasso, Simon

Unavailable: Sangui (Injured)

Questionable: Cafaro (Injured), Hamel (Injured), J. Lopez (Injured)

Lyon team news: Fofana a doubt

Belgium international winger Malick Fofana is now a key doubt for Lyon due to an ankle issue. They also have a couple of longer term absentees such as Orel Mangala and Ernest Nuamah.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Greif; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Niakhate, Tagliafico; Tolisso, Tessmann; Sulc, Morton, Karabec; Martin Satriano

Unavailable: Mangala (Injured), Nuamah (Injured)

Questionable: Descamps (Injured), Fofana (Injured)

Paris vs Lyon prediction

Lyon will head to Paris believing that they can beat anyone in the league with their cautious and controlled style of football. They have been a little more defensive than most would expect of Lyon, as shown by just 13 goals scored thus far. Paris haven’t necessarily been electric but far more entertaining than Lyon, but they have also shown their limitations and Lyon should be viewed as the favourites.

Paris vs Lyon tip: Lyon to win & under 3.5 goals
