Paris Saint-Germain preview: Historic 2024-25 season

After a memorable season in which Paris Saint-Germain achieved a fantastic quadruple of Ligue 1, Trophee des Champions, Coupe de France and the much coveted Champions League, Luis Enrique's hugely impressive side aim to kick-start their 2025-26 campaign with yet more silverware.

The only blip on their record of late was their somewhat surprising 3-0 defeat to Chelsea in the final of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup just last month.

Tottenham preview: New man in charge

Ange Postecoglou's final season in charge of Tottenham was a hugely underwhelming one domestically, as they finished just one place above the relegation zone in the Premier League table and failed in their pursuit of FA Cup and EFL glory.

Those shortcomings were somewhat mitigated, however, by their triumphant Europa League campaign, with the North London outfit's victory over Man Utd in the final giving them their first silverware since 2008.

With Postecoglou having been shown the door by the Spurs board, former Brentford boss Thomas Frank has been brought into the club.

Paris Saint-Germain team news: Neves suspended

With speculation linking goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma with a move away from the club, summer signing Lucas Chevalier could be handed his debut between the sticks here.

Joao Neves is suspended after picking up a red card in the Club World Cup final, but Enrique otherwise has a healthy squad at his disposal.

Frank has declared that Dominic Solanke is available for selection, but with injury having kept him out for much of pre-season, he may have to settle for a place on the bench.

New-boy Mohammed Kudus is likely to start, but Yves Bissouma has not travelled due to disciplinary reasons. Frank is without six injured players, although Destiny Udogie will be available very soon.

The French champions are the natural favourites here, with perhaps the only question mark regarding their ability to win this trophy being the fact they haven't really had a pre-season given their Club World Cup exploits.

Spurs will hope to catch the Champions League winners cold, but the reality is that they are playing under a new manager and it will take some time for Frank's methods to bed in. Add to that the fact that they are missing one or two key men through injury, and you have to fancy Paris Saint-Germain to clinch the Super Cup.

Expect a fast start from Enrique's men, who will be determined to bounce back from their Club World Cup disappointment.
