Paris Saint-Germain Preview: Parisien brilliance

Next weekend, Paris Saint-Germain will play in their second ever UEFA Champions League final against Internazionale at the Allianz Arena in Munich and Luis Enrique’s side have been simply sensational throughout the campaign across all competitions.

They were on course to become the first team in French football history to win the league without losing a game but they have suffered two defeats in the last month. They finished off the campaign with a comfortable 3-1 defeat of Auxerre at the Parc des Princes last weekend.

Reims Preview: Reims’ relegation battle

Stade de Reims replaced Luka Elsner with Samba Diawara in late-February and his first game saw Reims defeat Angers on penalties in the quarter-finals of the competition. They majorly improved after the March international break but have since collapsed, once again.

They suffered a 2-1 loss to Lille at Stade Pierre-Mauroy on the final day of the Ligue 1 campaign and that saw them fall behind Le Havre and into the relegation playoff place, where they will now face Metz with the first-leg in Metz a few days before the cup final.

Paris Saint-Germain Team News: Fully fit

PSG named arguably their strongest eleven to finish off the Ligue 1 campaign and they have a UEFA Champions League final to prepare for but with full weeks in between those matches so they will once again go full strength for the final.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Willian Pacho, Mendes; Neves, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Doue, Dembele, Kvaratskhelia

Reims Team News: A few injuries

As they make the trip to the capital city, Reims are dealing with a few long-term injury absentees such as former Brighton and Hove Albion man Reda Khadra and former Ajax attacker Mohamed Daramy, as well as both Yaya Fofana and Mamadou Diakhon.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Diouf; Sekine, Okumu, Kipre; Buta, Kone, Gbane, Sergio Akieme; Ito, Pefok, Atangana

Unavailable: Fofana (Injured), Khadra (Injured), Daramy (Injured), Diakhon (Injured)

Paris Saint-Germain vs Reims Prediction

Paris Saint-Germain have a slick and impressive squad that have really bought into the style of football implemented by Luis Enrique. They have two trophies under their belt, with Ligue 1 and the Trophee des Champions, and could yet win two more before the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. Luis Enrique won the treble with Barcelona in 2015 so is seeking to become, if he isn’t already, one of the best coaches in the history of the game. Reims’ focus is on survival in Ligue 1, having collapsed into a playoff after three successive defeats to finish off their league season. A comfortable PSG victory is to be expected at Stade de France.
