Paris Saint-Germain preview: Need a response

Last weekend, Le Classique was postponed for a day due to bad weather and then, on Monday rather than Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain had their 100% start to the season ended by Olympique de Marseille at Stade Velodrome, losing by a goal to nil.

Prior to that victory, PSG had won the UEFA Super Cup earlier this season before starting their league campaign with four successive victories and also defeating Atalanta by four goals to nil at the Parc des Princes in the UEFA Champions League.

Auxerre preview: A big win

Auxerre come into this one on the back of a much-needed and very important victory last weekend as they defeated Toulouse by a goal to nil at Stade de l’Abbe Descamps, courtesy of a first-half stoppage-time winner scored by Danny Loader.

The visitors gained promotion in 2024 and managed to steer themselves into the middle-of-the-table last season. They have been indifferent at the start of this season, and a tough watch, too, with just ten goals coming in their five games thus far.

Paris Saint-Germain team news: No Ballon d’Or winner

The new Ballon d’Or winner, Ousmane Dembele, remains unavailable through injury for the hosts, alongside compatriots Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola, as well as Joao Neves.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Chevalier; Hakimi, Zabarnyi, Willian Pacho, Mendes; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz; Lee, Ramos, Kvaratskhelia

Unavailable: Neves (Injured), Doue (Injured), Dembele (Injured), Barcola (Injured)

Questionable:

Auxerre team news: Oppegard suspended

Auxerre are without defender Fredrik Oppegard for this one after he was shown a red card in that aforementioned victory against Toulouse and so he is now missing through suspension.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Leon; Siwe, Francisco Sierralta, Mensah; Senaya, Owusu, Danois, Osman; Sinayoko, Mara, Loader

Unavailable: Diomande (Injured), Oppegard (Suspended), Buayi-Kiala (Injured), El Azzouzi (Injured)

Questionable:

Paris Saint-Germain vs Auxerre prediction

Paris Saint-Germain will try and preserve some of their best players with Luis Enrique now having to deal with an abundance of injuries to key players. There will want to be a feeling of simply getting through an availability storm. Auxerre are unlikely to cause them too much bother physically, and the Parisiens should ease themselves to victory, but it might not be an annihilation or with the intensity that they are used to.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Auxerre tip: Paris Saint-Germain to win & under 4.5 goals
