Palmeiras vs River Plate prediction

The first-leg of this CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores quarter-final tie last week saw Brazilian giants Palmeiras see off River Plate by two goals to one at Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires. Gustavo Gomez and Vitor Roque scored the goals for the Brazilians in the first-half, before Lucas Martinez Quarta scored late on for River.

Palmeiras have an impressive squad and they reached the semi-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup this summer, highlighting their impressive half a decade or so. River Plate, on the other hand, were impressive in terms of their performance level but Marcelo Gallardo’s side exited the competition at the group stage.

River Plate have been one of the better teams to watch in recent years, but Palmeiras have turned themselves into something approaching a winning machine and so they are favourites for this one.

Palmeiras vs River Plate tip: Double chance – Palmeiras to win or draw
