Oviedo preview: Struggling Oviedo
Having gained promotion to the top-flight last season, Real Oviedo performed reasonably well with a couple of victories from a very tough start to the season but they then decided to surprisingly part company with former Reading boss Veljko Paunovic.
His replacement was the returning Luis Carrion, but he has also now been sacked with Oviedo having failed to win any more games since that decision. They were hammered 4-0 by an indifferent Sevilla side in Andalusia last weekend.
Celta Vigo preview: Entertaining Celta
Last season, Celta Vigo performed extremely well to finish seventh and qualify for the UEFA Europa League and, despite balancing domestic and European commitments this season, the Galicians again sit inside the top eight after some excellent form.
Celta have enjoyed three victories in their last four matches in La Liga but they do come into this one on the back of a surprise penalty shootout defeat to second-tier Albacete in the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey in midweek.
Oviedo team news: No David Carmo
Nottingham Forest loanee David Carmo, formerly of FC Porto, is now unavailable for Real Oviedo as he represents the Angolan national side at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
Predicted XI (4-4-2): Aaron; Lucas Ahijado, David Costas, Dani Calvo, Alhassane; Hassan, Dendoncker, Colombatto, Ilyas Chaira; Alberto Reina, Salomon Rondon
Unavailable: Carmo (International duty), Alvaro Lemos (Injured)
Questionable: Nacho Vidal (Injured), Ilic (Injured), Ejaria (Injured)
Celta Vigo team news: Javi Rueda a doubt
Versatile midfielder Javi Rueda is now a major doubt for Celta Vigo this weekend, while other key youngsters Carlos Dominguez and Pablo Duran are confirmed absentees.
Predicted XI (3-4-3): Radu; Manu Fernandez, Starfelt, Marcos Alonso; Sergio Carreira, Ilaix Moriba, Hugo Sotelo, Oscar Mingueza; Iago Aspas, Ferran Jutgla, Swedberg
Unavailable: Carlos Dominguez (Injured), Pablo Duran (Injured)
Questionable: Aidoo (Injured), Javi Rueda (Injured)
Oviedo vs Celta Vigo prediction
Real Oviedo came up in mid-June and didn’t have enough time to ensure their squad was competitive enough for La Liga. The Asturians have one of the worst defences, weakest attacks and they are already onto third manager of the campaign with some poor decision-making. Celta have been brilliant in the last couple of months and they would have to be viewed as firm favourites as they push for a top four finish with their brilliant style under Claudio Giraldez.
