Oldham vs Colchester prediction

Following their promotion via the National League playoffs last season, Micky Mellon’s Oldham Athletic began their campaign with an impressive goalless draw at Stadium: MK against title favourites Milton Keynes Dons. That was then backed up, though, by a 3-1 loss to Accrington Stanley at the Crown Ground in the EFL Cup in midweek.

They now face a Colchester United side that narrowly missed out on the top seven and the playoff places last season, but will be expected to be up there again under Danny Cowley. They faced a seemingly poor Tranmere Rovers side on the opening day, at home, but had to rescue a late point with an equaliser scored by Kyreece Lisbie.

Colchester are one of the teams set to be most difficult to beat this year, and Oldham showed their own capabilities for that last week, so a low-scoring affair is likely.
