Heading into the first-leg of this Women’s Champions League quarter-final, OL Lyonnes were unbeaten in 31 games across all competitions. But that run came to a shock end in Wolfsburg as the two-time European champions put in by far their best performance of the season to stun Jonatan Giraldez’s side. To do the same in France though would be one of Wolfsburg’s finest achievements in recent seasons when you consider the unrelenting firepower and experience of this Lyonnes side. Players such as Wendie Renard, Selma Bacha and Lindsey Heaps will no doubt be critical both in the dressing room and on the pitch in this second-leg as the French giants try to force the issue.
Expect a very fast start from the hosts and it should be noted that OL Lyonnes have racked up at least three goals in all of their home fixtures played so far in this season’s competition, scoring ten and conceding just once.
