Nice preview: Iffy Nice

Coached by Lucien Faivre, Nice head into this one on the back of a difficult start to this season as a result of INEOS proclaiming the fact that they have little interest in running the club now with their focus on Manchester United.

The southerners come into this one on the back of a 2-2 draw with Monaco in the Derby de la Cote d’Azur a couple of weeks ago. They have managed just two victories in their ten matches across all competitions so far this season.

Lyon preview: Strong Lyon

Paulo Fonseca has returned to the dugout for an Olympique Lyonnais side that have started this season well with six victories and two defeats in their opening eight matches across all competitions.

Lyon come into this one on the back of a defeat, though, as they were beaten 2-1 by Toulouse at Parc OL before the October international break in a game in which they had led until the 87th minute of the match.

Nice team news: Abdi suspended

Nice are now without Ali El Abdi as he is missing through suspension alongside several key injury absentees such as Moise Bombito, Tanguy Ndombele and Terem Moffi.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Diou; Mendy, Abdul Samed, Bard; Clauss, Sanson, Vanhoutte, Boga; Cho, Jansson, Diop

Unavailable: Abdi (Suspended), Moise Bombito (Injured), Ndayishimiye (Injured), Abdelmonem (Injured), Moffi (Injured), Ndombele (Injured)

Questionable: Dante (Injured), Boudaoui (Injured)

Lyon team news: A few injuries

As they make the trip down south, Lyon are dealing with a few injury concerns as left-back Abner is sidelined alongside both Orel Mangala and Ernest Nuamah.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Greif; Maitland-Niles, Clinton Mata, Niakhate, Tagliafico; Tessmann, Morton; Karabec, Tolisso, Fofana; Martin Satriano

Unavailable: Descamps (Injured), Abner (Injured), Mangala (Injured), Nuamah (Injured)

Questionable:

Nice vs Lyon prediction

Nice head into this one with a squad whereby it has to be said it is limited because of the neglect from their ownership group. The hosts welcome a Lyon side to the Allianz Riviera that, with Fonseca at the helm, play an enterprising and possession-based style but they have been more pragmatic with a better winning mentality and that should produce more lower scoring encounters but they have to remain as the favourites.

Nice vs Lyon tip: Double chance - Lyon to win or draw
