Key stats

  • Nicaragua have won five of their last six World Cup qualifying matches at home (L1).
  • Nicaragua have only failed to score in two of their last 15 World Cup qualifying matches.
  • Nicaragua scored four goals in both of their previous two matches in the current World Cup qualifying campaign.
  • Guyana are aiming to win successive World Cup qualifying matches for the first time since 2011 when they went on to win three in a row.

Nicaragua vs Guyana prediction

Nicaragua begun the third match day of Group D sitting at the top, above Panama on goal difference, after back-to-back victories in their opening two matches. They now face a Guyana side that have instead started with a victory and a defeat in their two games, sitting three points behind both Nicaragua and Panama.

Nicaragua come into this one on the back of a 1-1 draw with Puerto Rico in their most recent outing the other day in an international friendly. That means they have now managed just one victory in their last six matches. Guyana, on the other hand, most recently suffered a 4-3 aggregate loss to Guatemala in qualification for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in March.

Guyana have shown signs of improvement in the last year or so but Nicaragua, especially with their home advantage, would have to be viewed as firm favourites for this one.
