Newport vs Notts County prediction

In their opening competitive match of the 2025/26 campaign, Newport County edged past Barnet on penalties in the preliminary round of the EFL Cup in midweek. The Exiles went 2-0 up in the first-half, before Barnet fought back deep into second-half stoppage-time. Newport are, though, expected to struggle against the drop this season.

They now face a Notts County side that reached the semi-finals of the playoffs last season under the management of Stuart Maynard, before losing to AFC Wimbledon. The Magpies have since embarked upon an extremely busy summer, with Martin Paterson now having replaced him in the dugout with quite a few comings and goings.

It can happen where an average side tend to have a bright, but unsustainable, start to a campaign, so siding with Newport against a chaotic Notts side looks a good bet here.
