  • New Caledonia have never previously faced a Concacaf team in an official international match.
  • New Caledonia are aiming to qualify for the FIFA World Cup™ for the first time in their history. A successful campaign would make them only the third OFC nation to reach the finals, after Australia (1974, 2006 before joining the AFC) and New Zealand (1982, 2010, 2026).
  • The last OFC team to qualify via an inter-confederation play-off was New Zealand, who beat Bahrain 1–0 on aggregate to reach South Africa 2010.
  • This is New Caledonia’s first appearance in a FIFA World Cup™ inter-confederation play-off.
  • New Caledonia secured their place in the FIFA World Cup 26™ Play-Off Tournament by finishing runners-up to New Zealand in OFC qualifying, earning their spot in the final with a 3–0 semi-final win over Tahiti.
  • New Caledonia have gained recent global experience through youth competitions: their U-17 team competed at the FIFA U-17 World Cup™ in 2017 and 2023, and their U-20 team made its debut at the FIFA U-20 World Cup™ in 2025.
  • New Caledonia have lost only one of their last ten official international matches (W7 D2).
  • New Caledonia have scored two or more goals in nine of their last 13 official internationals.
  • This is New Caledonia’s first official international fixture in Mexico.
  • Jamaica have faced OFC opposition four times, all in friendlies, earning two wins (both vs New Zealand) and two defeats (both vs Australia). Their most recent meeting was a 3–2 away win over New Zealand in February 2012.
  • Jamaica are seeking a return to the FIFA World Cup™ for the first time in 28 years, having debuted at France 1998. They ended that tournament with a historic 2–1 victory over Japan, their first-ever World Cup win.
  • Jamaica qualified for the FIFA World Cup 26™ Play-Off Tournament as the best of the two second-placed teams in the final round of Concacaf qualifying. They previously topped their second-round group with a perfect four wins from four. Their overall qualifying record was P10 W7 D2 L1, including seven clean sheets.
  • This is Jamaica’s first appearance in a FIFA World Cup™ inter-confederation play-off.
  • Jamaica have lost only three of their last 14 official international matches (W7 D4).

New Caledonia vs Jamaica prediction

New Caledonia finished as runners' up to New Zealand in OFC qualification. That means, for the first time ever, they are in a FIFA World Cup inter-continental playoff with Oceania having been granted an automatic qualifying spot, taken up by the All Whites.

Jamaica qualified for 1998 in France but haven't been back at a global event since. Steve McClaren has resigned and been replaced by Rudolph Speid after missing out on a glorious opportunity to book their spot at the tournament this summer, only to be pipped by debutants Curacao.

The Reggae Boyz aren't necessarily a team to be trusted and the final is a tough test anyway against the Democratic Republic of Congo, but they really should still come out on top against the New Caledonians here.
