Nathan Aspinall will be fully expecting another strong run at Alexandra Palace after a year that saw him pick up three European Tour titles in addition to a number of impressive runs at majors.
The Asp was runner-up at the recent Players Championship Finals and boasts a strong record at the worlds, most recently making the quarter-finals last year, where he lost to eventual champion Luke Littler.
Lourence Ilagan is making his tenth appearance at the PDC World Darts Championship, with the popular Filipino thrower having retained his PDC Asian Championship crown this year.
The frequent World Cup of Darts participant is capable of averaging in the mid 90s but invariably loses at the first hurdle when it comes the worlds. Aspinall is simply a class apart, and should have too much for him here.
