Napoli preview: Frustration in the UCL

Antonio Conte has a bad record in the UEFA Champions League but Napoli’s defeat to Manchester City was frustrating with Giovanni Di Lorenzo sent off mid-way through the first-half before second-half strikes from Erling Braut Haaland and Jeremy Doku.

The Partenopei have, though, begun the defence of their Serie A title with three successive victories. They made it three from three with an impressive 3-1 victory over Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi last weekend.

Pisa preview: Top-flight Pisa

Having gained promotion to the top-flight last season, Pisa decided to do the usual for clubs going up and that was make a managerial change with former Genoa boss Alberto Gilardino brought in to try and fight relegation this year.

The visitors have started their 2025/26 Serie A campaign with one point collected, which came on the opening day of the season. They most recently suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Udinese at Arena Garibaldi last weekend.

Napoli team news: Meret still a doubt

Alex Meret remains a doubt for this weekend, although Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has been excellent in his stead. The likes of Amir Rrahmani and Romelu Lukaku both sidelined.

Pisa team news: Juan Cuadrado a doubt

Pisa have no major issues for this weekend’s trip to Naples, although Antonio Conte’s former Juventus man Juan Cuadrado is a doubt for this one due to a thigh issue.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Semper; Canestrelli, Cariaccolo, Lusuardi; Toure, Akinsanmiro, Aebischer, Angori; Moreo, Tramoni; Meister

Questionable: Juan Cuadrado (Injured)

Napoli vs Pisa prediction

Napoli have an excellent and well-balanced squad that is shaping up as the favourites to win a fifth ever Serie A title and a third in four seasons. The Neapolitans have depth, too, for the first time ever. Pisa were always expected to struggle and that is how the opening few weeks of the season are panning out, with Napoli surely expected to ease their way to a fourth win from four, and it would be a surprise if Pisa even troubled the Neapolitans.

Napoli vs Pisa tip: Napoli to win to nil
