Napoli preview: Grinding it out

After a humiliating week in the UEFA Champions League about ten days or so ago as they were annihilated 6-2 by PSV Eindhoven, Antonio Conte has returned to his preferred bread and butter of grinding out wins domestically.

They pulled off a big 3-1 win over Internazionale in Naples last week before then edging past a poor Lecce side by a goal to nil after the hosts had missed a penalty before a second-half winner scored by Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Como preview: Cesc’s Como

Cesc Fabregas, who played under Antonio Conte at Chelsea, has been given a lot of money to spend in Como and he has got his side play a very nice style of football as they challenge for a top six finish and European qualification in Serie A.

The visitors come into this one on the back of a comfortable 3-1 victory over Hellas Verona at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia in midweek, courtesy of goals from Tasos Douvikas, Stefan Posch and Mergim Vojvoda.

Napoli team news: Several key absentees

Summer signing Noa Lang has joined Napoli’s key list of absentees that also includes first-choice goalkeeper Alex Meret and Belgium internationals Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Milinkovic-Savic; Di Lorenzo, Buongiorno, Juan, Mathias Olivera; Anguissa, Gilmour, Elmas; Politano, Lucca, David Neres

Unavailable: Meret (Injured), Lobotka (Injured), De Bruyne (Injured), Lang (Injured), Lukaku (Injured)

Questionable:

Como team news: Nothing fresh

There are no fresh injury concerns for Como to deal with this weekend as Alberto Dossena remains sidelined alongside former Barcelona man Sergi Roberto.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Butez; Posch, Diego Carlos, Jacobo, Alex Valle; Caqueret, Da Cunha; Kuhn, Nico Paz, Diao; Douvikas

Unavailable: Dossena (Injured), Sergi Roberto (Injured)

Questionable:

Napoli vs Como prediction

Napoli have a very solid side and Antonio Conte is a genius when it comes to league football. Como are one of the few teams in Italy that are this season playing a very progressive and entertaining style of football and so they will seek to take the game to the champions in Naples. Napoli can be static and are missing real quality in the final third and so siding with Como could well be a very good value bet here.

Napoli vs Como tip: Double chance – Como to win or draw
