Nantes preview: Another change at Nantes

At the start of this season, Nantes put in some impressive performances but the Canaries eventually had to part company with the now Levante manager Luis Castro with results failing to line up with the level of their play.

The home team returned from the mid-season winter break, though, by producing an impressive 2-0 victory over Olympique de Marseille at Stade Velodrome, courtesy of goals from Fabien Centonze and Remy Cabella.

Paris preview: Underperforming big spenders

Paris FC are one of the most ambitious and richest clubs in European football and they would have expected to have comfortably survived this time around, although the Parisians are hovering just above the danger zone, following their promotion.

The capital city club do come into this one, though, on the back of an impressive shock defeat of Paris Saint-Germain the derby last weekend in the Coupe de France, courtesy of a winning goal scored by striker Jonathan Ikone.

Nantes team news: Centonze a doubt

The aforementioned Fabien Centonze is now a doubt for Nantes this weekend, while both Chidozie Awaziem and Mostafa Mohamed are away at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Lopes; Amian, Tati, Cozza; Leroux, Coquelin, Mwanga, Deiver Machado; Tabibou, Abline; El Arabi

Unavailable: Awaziem (International duty), Mostafa Mohamed (International duty)

Questionable: Centonze (Injured)

Paris team news: Several doubts

Paris have plenty of injury doubts for this weekend’s trip to Nantes as former Norwich City midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou could be sidelined alongside striker Jean-Philippe Krasso.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Trapp; Mbow, Kolodziejczak, Otavio; Sangui, Lopez, Camara, De Smet; Cafaro, Gueye, Ikone

Unavailable: Hamel (Injured), Simon (International duty)

Questionable: Chergui (Injured), Lees-Melou (Injured), Dicko (Injured), Geubbels (Injured), Gory (Injured), Krasso (Injured)

Nantes vs Paris prediction

Ahead of this weekend’s round of fixtures, Nantes sit third from bottom and in the relegation playoff place in Ligue 1. In contrast, Paris are hovering just a place above them and a couple of points ahead. The visitors will take immense confidence from their defeat of PSG last weekend and will fancy themselves to at least score here, but the same can be said for a Nantes side that will believe they can push away from the bottom three.

Nantes vs Paris tip: Both teams to score
